Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

This museum on the Hudson River features the legendary Intrepid aircraft carrier, the Enterprise space shuttle, the world’s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine.

Founded in 1982, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum sees over one million visitors a year. Children and adults alike are drawn to the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, now a National Historic Landmark, which served during World War II and the Vietnam War and was a recovery vessel for the Gemini and Mercury space missions.

The Museum also includes the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home to Enterprise, the world’s first space shuttle, along with the submarine Growler and 28 authentically restored aircrafts – including the British Airways Concorde, the fastest commercial aircraft to ever cross the Atlantic Ocean, and the Lockheed A-12, the world’s fastest military jet and spy plane.

Children and adolescents particularly enjoy the Exploreum, an interactive hall focused on games and activities around water, space, air and life at sea.
